Project Proposal

Idea:

Our plan is to take three touch screens 32 in. TV’s and hang them on the wall of the doctors office. On these screens we will have three different touch screen games. One screen will be focused on the bones of the body. The second one will be focused on the organs of the body. The third one will be the organization of children’s teeth. Each game is going to be a drag and drop style and the name of the game is to complete the different sections of the body. Then we will have a fourth 32 in. TV screen that will combine all the body parts together to create a finished human.

Introduction:

We started out researching different parts of the body. In our research we discovered the most important parts of the body. For the skeleton game we narrowed it down to the skull, upper arm, lower arm, ribs, spine, upper leg, lower leg, and hips. For the organ game we narrowed it down to the heart, liver, large intestine, small intestine, lungs, stomach, and the brain. For the third children’s teeth game we narrowed it down to upper incisors, upper canine, upper molar, lower incisors, lower canine and lower molar.

We found out that children started to get their adult teeth from ages 12-13 years of age. That is why we decided to go with a child’s mouth instead of an adult’s mouth.

To make this work we researched the best way to run each game individually is to use a piece of hardware called Intel Stick PC. Each TV will have its down Intel Stick PC and that will allow the TV to be its own computer.

The background information we used for this project is the basic design of a drag and drop game that both of us have used on other games in the past. We wanted to combine the doctors and dentist office some how, that is why we are going to have three different games that tie into both offices.

Concepts:

This project will force kids to use their motor skills by dragging and dropping. It will educate them by learning about the bones of the body, the organs of the body, and background of their teeth. It will teach them how to socialize in groups and work with other children to accomplish the final goal.

Goals:

  • To education about the bones of the body, the organs of the body, and background of their teeth.
  • To teach them how to work in groups
  • To teach them to communicate socially
  • To educate them on the recent technology
  • To have the game be fun

Project Analysis:

We wanted to simulate a body going through an operation and the users have to put the parts of the body back together. Each user will act as a different character and be able to dress up as a surgeon, doctor and dentist. We are taking real word situations on how different medical professionals all have different specializations but they all come together to keep humans healthy. We will be using different types of software to develop our project such as Photoshop and Unity. We will then take our project and build it as an app for a computer that is connected to each screen. This experience should not be complicated enough for a child to get confused but the interface will be simple enough for an adult to facilitate the experience. This is also designed so that it is a safe experience where the user has minimal to no risk of becoming injured. Our budget for this project is $14,800. This includes the three touch screen monitors, one regular monitor and four PC sticks and labor.

Audience Analysis:

The main audience for this project is focused on ages 5-10 years old.

In our generation children are around todays updated technology. Such as IPads, Computers, IPhones etc. They have learned either at home or by seeing it somewhere else on how to work this recent technology. By having our project be technology base, we believe children around this age will know how to work this game and be able to learn by viewing and dragging and dropping.

Being in elementary school, children this age have the basics understanding of the human anatomy. They also have the understanding of collaboration by working with others to solve a common problem.

We are going to try to appeal both genders as much as possible. By providing a choice in the game to either pick the female anatomy or the males anatomy.

Adults can help their children with this game as well. They can stand with them at the touch TV and be able to give them feedback and help them understand the directions to it and also help them with the names of the bones, organs, and teeth.
