Projects From NMD104

In NMD104 we focused in on the Adobe Suite. We created many works in Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere and After Effects. All of these works allowed me to use my creative expression as well as my thought process in what a consumer would want to buy. Learning all the skills i learned in this major have helped me in many other aspects of new media such as creating my project proposals in NMD200. I continue to use the programs and skills from NMD104 for lots of things in my daily life.

For this project we were asked to outline and trace and object that means something to us. I chose a soldiers helmet because one of my best friends is in the military and I am a huge supporter. I added the word brave under the image because thats what soldiers are to me. I used this style of font because it is rigid and sharp which can relate to the hardships of a soldier.

For this project we took the image that we traced before and portrayed it in a variety of different ways. This taught us that by using these techniques we can easily give an image a special characteristic to give it a new meaning.

In this project I chose to trace and recolor a helmet from the video game Destiny. This project asked us to find a part of a design and separate it from the original. After doing this I recolored it to make it look more grey than white. This project was the hardest image that I have traced so far and it is also one of my favorites.

This here is the thumbnail I used for one of my favorite projects we did which was to create our own commercial that advertised something that doesn’t exist. I chose to create a product called pickled fingers which are are your fingers that are cut off and pickled. The reason I found this so much fun was that I was able to use a lot of creative expression and had to collaborate with others to make this project happen.

This was one of the most interesting projects we had to do in my opinion. We were asked to take a piece of writing called “The Garden of Forking Paths” and create a unique stylish way to portray the piece of writing. I chose to place purple and red roses on the paths that I made which forked around the pages. I chose this style because I wanted to be able to relate back to the writing.

In this project we had to create a new album cover for a band that we were interested in. One of my favorite metalcore bands Attila just came out with a new album and there first song has to do with pizza and trolls so thats what I put on the album cover. This is a metalcore band so I chose the very heavy, dark, and gothic style of writing that many metal bands use.

For this next project we were asked to make a fake app logo for a fake app that we thought of. I thought of an app that takes a picture of an animal or insect and the phone would be able to tell you exactly what it is as well as other interesting information. I really like how this came out because I used a lot of contrast between the red lady bug and the blue background. The font that I used is influenced by nature and animals so it fits perfectly.

For our final we were asked to take all of the skills that we have learned over the semester and combine them together into one big project. We were asked to create a product that hasn’t been created yet but could have the potential to be created. I created a fake product called the Wiiality which mixed a Wii remote with a virtual reality headset and vest that vibrates. We were asked to create a logo, a video, and blueprint of how this device might work. I enjoyed this as a final project because I used creativity as well as the skills I learned in the many programs in the Adobe suit.
